" The only failure is not trying" - Sophia Amoruso

Mental illness is a topic that is often frowned upon. Being diagnosed with a mental illness often makes people wonder if they are worthy, can achieve goals like others, and whether or not they are like others. Sophia Amoruso is one who didn't let her diagnosis of ADHD get in the way of her milestone of success. Before discussing her achievements, it is vital to understand what ADHD is and how it can affect a person.

ADHD is one of the most common pediatric neurodevelopmental diseases -- It is most commonly diagnosed in childhood and lasts far into adulthood

Children with ADHD may struggle to pay attention, manage impulsive behaviors (doing without considering the consequences), or be extremely active. I have firsthand witnessed people with ADHD and how it can affect their performances. In high school, there are many students who are diagnosed with ADHD. It might make it difficult for a kid to concentrate, pay attention, listen, or put out the academic effort.

ADHD can also cause a student to be fidgety, restless, talk excessively, or disturb the classroom. Children with ADHD may also have learning difficulties, causing them to struggle in school. Considering the limitations, there are ways to overcome this diagnosis and not let it affect a person.

Sophia Amoruso is one such woman who did exactly that

She is an American businesswoman who founded GIRLBOSS and Nasty Gal. Girlboss is the largest job marketplace in the world for ambitious women looking to make things happen. Amoruso empowers other women to achieve their dreams and ambitions just like she did. She believes that as long as you're learning from your experiences, there's no such thing as failure. She turned her failure into success, which is one key lesson I believe everyone should consider. In life, everybody has failures, but it is what you do with those failures to make them a success that sets people apart. After a great run, Sophia's first business, online apparel boutique Nasty Gal, went bankrupt. Rather than hiding or quitting when the going got tough, she sought to learn from her first business's failures.

“There are secret opportunities hidden inside every failure”

She has taught me that it is important to follow your passion even if it seems impossible. This is demonstrated with her journey with ADHD. Even though she dropped out of school and started homeschooling after being diagnosed, she did it for her benefit. While working to pay for her illness, she discovered her passion online, and her success began. Today she is an inspiration to all women; she has attended various interviews and shared her personal story on her book, #Girlboss.
